Bushmills 1608 400th Anniversary 70cl

The Bushmills 16 Year Old SIngle Malt is based on the freshness and smoothness which is from the Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt. Aged separately for 15 years in American Bourbon casks and Spanish Sherry casks. These two whiskies are then blended together then married in Madeira casks to create a flavoursome whiskey which is well rounded and well balanced. Like all Bushmills whiskies, Bushmills 16 is incredibly smooth, but this release is extra smooth and sweet than the rest. Winner of Silver Medal at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco in 2009 and also a Silver Medal winner at the International Spirits and Wine Competition in 2009 also.

Launched originally in 2008 to celebrate Bushmills Distillery’s 400th Anniversary (as the name may suggest!), to celebrate 400 years ago since King James I granted Bushmills a licence to distill in the area. The ingredient which makes this whiskey particularly special, is the use of Crystal Malt. Crystal Malt is usually used to give the whiskey a copper colour. However, when used at Bushmills, it gave the whiskey a unique taste and fuller fruit and caramel flavours which thrive when matured. Winner of Best Irish Blended Whiskey (No Age) at the World Whiskies Awards twice, most recently in 2012.
