Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand Marlborough

This Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Cloudy Bay Vineyards located in the Marlborough location of New Zealand. Famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough has Cloudy Bay to thank for the majority of its success in the winemaking industry. Being one of New Zealand’s first exported wines, Cloudy Bay soon became a popular brand name around the world and also became the face of New Zealand wine soon after. Named after the bay upon which the vineyards are located, Cloudy Bay also produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, however their Sauvignon Blanc remains the most prominent of the series. Planted on deep-alluvial gravels which helps Cloudy Bay ensure that their wines remain the face of New Zealand winemaking today.

Grapes were sourced from estate and grower vineyards located in the Rapaura, Fairhall, Renwick and Brancott sub-regions of the Wairau Valley. Free draining, stony soils typify the Rapaura and Renwick areas whilst Fairhall and Brancott are predominantly aged alluvial loams containing some clay. The majority of fruit was grown on a vertical shoot positioned (VSP) trellis with three canes laid down.
