Pipoli Aglianico del Vulture
Grown in the picturesque, low trained soils of the volcanic slopes beside Mount Vulture at high altitudes up to 1800 metres above sea level. Following the hand-picked harvest of these grapes, the fruits are then gently crushed and destemmed where the must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks at temperatures up to 32 degrees Celsius. The result is a garnet red coloured wine, which when opened delivers layers upon layers of complex aromas including strong fruit notes and smoky oak nuances. The wine itself is a full bodied wine with a sweet red fruit taste.
On arrival at the winery the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed then the must fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at temperatures up to 30-32°C. Frequent, gentle pumping over took place during fermentation and maceration which lasted approximately 30 days. Judicious oak influence softened the naturally high tannins after which the wine remained in tank until bottling.
Tasting Notes: Garnet red in colour. The nose has layered, highly complex aromas with hints of underbrush, violets and cocoa. Full-bodied, the wine has a sweet red fruit character with delicate oak nuances and persistent fruit notes through to the finish.
