The Chocolate Block South Africa
This full bodied wine is produced by one of the leading vineyards in South Africa, Boekenhoutskloof. First founded back towards the end of the 18th Century, the winery was recently bought in 1993 and the new owners have restored the ancient buildings to return this winery to the top of South Africa’s leaders in wine production. Made with a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre and Viognier, the wine is massively full bodied with extremely limited sweetness. Pairs brilliantly with red meats and roast beef.
The 2013 Chocolate Block is a blend of Syrah (71%); Cabernet Sauvignon (12%); Grenache Noir (11%); Cinsault (5%) and Viognier (1%). This wine is the perfect example of identifying “undiscovered” parcels of vineyard with amazing potential and utilizing it to unleash its world class quality.
